What PlantFluent is
PlantFluent helps you identify plants from photos and keep an on-device garden journal. PlantFluent is not a medical device and does not provide foraging, toxicity, or treatment advice you should rely on for health or eating decisions.

Camera
We request camera access solely to capture plant photos for identification and journal entries. You can deny camera access and use the photo picker instead.
Optional GPS
Location is optional. If enabled, it may tag journal entries. Approximate or precise location is not required for core plant ID.
Images to third-party ID APIs
When you run an identification, the image (and minimal request metadata) is transmitted to one or more of: Pl@ntNet, Plant.id / Kindwise, BioCLIP, or Parallel, depending on which keys/backends are configured for your request. Those providers process the image to return species suggestions.
Do not upload photos of people, children, or sensitive locations you do not want processed.
On-device journal
Journal content stays on your device unless you later enable a cloud feature. Deleting the app may delete local journal data.
Purchases and licenses
If you buy Keep, Lifetime, Founder Pro, or credit packs via Stripe (web) or a store, we receive payment confirmation and the email address you provide so we can send your license code and provide support. Payment card details are handled by Stripe / Apple / Google — we do not store full card numbers.
Analytics and diagnostics
If product analytics or crash reporting is enabled (e.g. PostHog), we may collect approximate usage events, device/app version, and diagnostics to improve PlantFluent. You can ask us to stop processing analytics-linked identifiers by emailing kyle@brodeur.me where technically feasible.
No sale of personal data; no ads profiling
We do not sell personal information. We do not use plant photos for advertising profiles. We do not run a PictureThis-style ads-and-subscription profiling model.
Retention and deletion
- Local journal: Delete entries in-app; uninstalling removes local storage on most devices.
- ID images sent to providers: Retained only as needed to fulfill the request and per provider terms; we do not build a public gallery of your uploads.
- License / purchase records: Kept as needed for fraud prevention, taxes, and support.
- Server-side account data (when Pro / cloud accounts exist): Email kyle@brodeur.me with subject
DELETE ACCOUNT, or use in-app Delete account when available. We aim to complete deletion within a reasonable period (target ≤30 days), subject to legal retention.
Children
PlantFluent is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact kyle@brodeur.me and we will delete it.
Your choices
- Deny camera and use the photo picker.
- Leave location off.
- Do not run an ID (no image leaves the device for ID APIs).
- Uninstall to remove local journal data.
- Email kyle@brodeur.me for deletion or privacy questions.
International users
PlantFluent is operated from the United States. If you use the app from elsewhere, your information may be processed in the U.S. and other countries where our providers operate.
Changes
We will update this page and the effective date when practices change. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated policy.
